How Do They Work?

Generally the indoor 900/1800 MHz signal is quite good close to windows, glass doors and any other opening close to the outside but it gets worst as you move inside especially if the environment is big, not high from the ground, built in concrete and metal. Of course if the outdoor signal surrounding the environment is already low (low field) the indoor signal situation can be worst.

To overcome this problem it is necessary to use a repeater or, for small environments, a microrepeater.

The repeaters and the microrepeaters repeat the outdoor signal received by an antenna linked to the repeater by a cable. The antenna is usually installed on the roof of the building. The signal is brought inside by cable and it is necessary to use one or more antennas to cover the several rooms of the environment. Inside the served area you can freely move while doing or receiving your phone calls.

We can quote the system you need. It can be broadband or narrow band and it is possible to receive one or more operators.

Frequently asked questions about professional GSM/UMTS/LTE repeaters

Quick answers for indoor telephone coverage systems using repeaters and microrepeaters.

Why does indoor signal get worse as you move inside?
Indoor signal is usually better close to windows and openings, but it degrades deeper inside—especially in large environments, low floors, and buildings with concrete and metal. If the outdoor surrounding signal is already low (low field), indoor coverage becomes even worse.
What is the role of the outdoor antenna (donor antenna)?
The donor antenna receives the outdoor signal and feeds it to the repeater through a cable (commonly installed on the roof). This is the starting point for bringing coverage inside.
How do you distribute coverage inside multiple rooms?
After the signal is brought indoors by cable, one or more indoor antennas are used to cover the several rooms/areas of the environment, allowing free movement while placing or receiving calls.
When should I choose a repeater vs a microrepeater?
A repeater is typically used for larger environments, while a microrepeater is generally used for small environments. Both solutions repeat the outdoor signal to improve indoor service.
Can the system be broadband or narrow band, and can it support multiple operators?
Yes. The solution can be broadband or narrow band and can be configured to receive one or more operators depending on the project requirements.
